Susan Macy

| Susan Macy is
an active teacher, performer and conductor. Susan teaches
woodwinds in the Palo Alto Unified School District. She also plays in
the West Bay Opera, is principal clarinet of the Peninsula Symphony and
often plays with San Jose Opera, Santa Cruz Symphony and Ballet Orchestra.
Susan played previously with the Monterey Symphony and many chamber
groups. As the co-conductor of the South Bay Community Orchestra, a group of older adults, Susan leads the group in performances for special groups in rest homes, community centers, hospitals and volunteer groups. |
Mrs. Macy received a B.M. in clarinet performance from CSU Northridge
and a Master’s degree also in clarinet performance from New England
Conservatory. Her teachers were Stanley Hasty, Michael Webster,
Rossario Mazzeo and Dominic Fera. Her husband, Rufus Acosta, is a fine bassoonist and has his woodwind and brass repair shop next to Norm’s Music. |
